Palmetto Tree Service offers many tree services. The list below is just a general list of what we offer. If you don’t see your particular need, just call. We are sure that we can assist with any need you have.

Environmentally Responsible Tree Removal
At Palmetto Tree Service, we strive to preserve each and every tree we are called to assess. However, in some cases, trees must be removed due to disease, destruction of foundations, or other circumstances. Each time we remove a tree, we donate $1 to plant another tree through the Arborday Foundation. Last year we planted over 200 trees through this program.

Stump Grinding
Our stump grinder is fast and efficient at removing stumps. We grind them to 6-8 inches below grade, which allows you to plant grass or small shrubs in place of the stump. Stump grinding is available for all removals.

Expert Pruning
Our pruning is performed by experienced tree climbers in accordance with ISA (Society of Arboriculture) standards. Our pruning of Live Oak trees has been described as “artistry” by many satisfied customers. We do not engage in unsightly practices such as “liontailing” or “pollarding” (crape murder). Techniques such as crown raising and view enhancement can improve your home’s curb appeal or open up a previously obscured view. Proper pruning can also help establish trees’ structural integrity, ensuring that it will be safe and healthy for years to come.

Certified Arborist Consulting
Owner Robert Thompson is an ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist. This ensures that he has several years of hands-on experience in tree care, has studied extensively, and passed a rigorous examination in the field of arboriculture. ISA Certification requires that arborists continue their education and therefore have the up-to-date knowledge and experience to provide the best care for your trees.

Storm Preparation and Cleanup
Pruning techniques such as thinning and removing dead wood from trees’ crowns should be done before any major storm. Thinning reduces the number of branches and leaves, reducing the impact of wind and the chance of a blowover in a storm. Removing dead wood also protects your home from projectiles. In the event that a storm does damage to your landscape, Palmetto Tree Service is an expert in storm damage. Having recently worked Hurricanes Charlie, Ivan, Wilma, Katrina, Ike, and Irene Palmetto Tree Service has experience with dangerous fallen and twisted trees, and high risk removals from buildings and other structures.

Fertilization
In the urban and suburban environment, much of the detritus such as fallen leaves, grass clippings, and branches that would normally feed the trees in the forest gets removed. Therefore, it is sometimes necessary to add fertilizer back into the soil. We use organic fertilizers and Deep-Root-Inject them into the ground to reach roots quickly and efficiently. We also use mycorrhizae (beneficial fungi) to improve trees’ ability to absorb nutrients. All treatments are natural and environmentally safe.

Wood Waste Recycling
We recycle tree limbs and branches into beautiful beneficial dyed mulch. Because the leaves are left in the mix, our mulch is much healthier for your trees and shrubs than traditional sawmill mulch or pinestraw and the organic vegetable-based dye gives it an appealing uniform color (red, brown, or black). Ask about our mulching program. We also sell seasoned firewood in the winter so preorder your load today.

Tree Planting
ISA Certified Arborist Robert Thompson will help select the proper tree for your site and plant it in accordance with ISA planting guidelines. Make sure your valuable new plantings thrive by having them planted by the professionals.

Lightning Protection
If you have a prized tree such as a grand Live Oak, stately Cypress, or graceful Weeping Willow you may want to consider protecting it from lightning strikes. Our system protects trees from such strikes by directing the bolt into the ground and avoiding your tree.

Root Flare Exposure
When a tree is planted too deeply, the roots at the top do not get enough oxygen. Removing some of the dirt from around the root collar exposes these roots and allows the tree to “breathe” again.

Root Barrier
Root barrier is a thick polyethelyne barrier that we install at the foundation of your home to prevent tree roots from cracking your foundation. If the situation warrants it, root barrier can be an excellent alternative to removal.
